American Pianists Awards Premiere Series - Henry Kramer

Starting on September 25, 2016 11:30 am

The American Pianists Awards are held every four years to discover the best aspiring young American classical pianists. Winners receive cash and two years of career advancement and support valued at over $100,000, making this one of the most coveted prizes in the music world.

The Premiere Series provides the first live juried performances of the five American Pianists Awards finalists. Over the course of five months, each finalist makes an initial appearance on stage in Indianapolis.

2017 American Pianists Awards finalist Henry Kramer, 29, will perform a solo program as well as Mozart's Concerto No.25 in C Major, K.503, with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra.

A Maine native, Henry has earned top prizes in the 2015 Honens International Piano Competition, and the 6th China Shanghai International Piano Competition. He was also a prizewinner in the 8th National Chopin Competition in Miami and received the 2014 Harvard Musical Association Arthur Foote Award. In May of 2016 he was awarded Second Prize at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition of Belgium.
Henry holds both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree from The Juilliard School and an Artist Diploma from the Yale School of Music. He currently pursues doctoral studies at the Yale School of Music, and was recently appointed as the Iva Dee Hiatt Visiting Artist in Piano at Smith College.
