Grand Encounters 2017 Season Announcement
JOIN US FOR A SEASON OF GRAND ENCOUNTERS!
American Pianists Association presents five intriguing encounters with music in five unique venues, each concert offering the unexpected:
Rendezvous with emerging Russian pianist Nikita Mndoyants, winner of the 2016 Cleveland International Piano Competition. This solo recital on the campus of Butler University will include works by Beethoven, Wagner and Prokofiev.
Feel the music of Composer/pianist Pablo Ziegler and Christopher O’Riley, pianist/host of NPR’s "From the Top," as they offer virtuosic, two-piano arrangements of Argentine New Tango, the vibrant musical hybrid of classic tango and American jazz.
Join 2013 American Pianists Awards winner Sean Chen for an afternoon of music making under the ornate domed ceiling of the spectacular Landmark Center. Varied solo repertoire to include Ravel’s "Miroirs" and Medtner’s "Sonata-ballade."
Unite with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and its patrons for the fourth concert of both seasons. The ICO will perform Mozart’s “Jupiter” Symphony and combine with Sean Chen for Piano Concerto No. 1 by Shostakovich.
Come together for the season finale with Sean Chen and a string quartet from the ICO for music making at Trinity Episcopal Church (ICO music director Matthew Kraemer on violin).
