Immigrants and The Golden Age of Hollywood

The influx of refugees to Ellis Island had a huge impact on shaping America’s culture, arts and society in the early 20^th century. Among those who fled to escape oppression were European musicians and composers. They soon made their way to what later became Hollywood and the movie industry. This concert highlights early pioneers of the Hollywood’s Golden Age and features a new composition about the immigration story of Ellis Island from the perspective of the men and women who were part of that journey. 2013 American Pianists Association Winner Sean Chen is featured.
