One of the most important jazz pianists of his generation, 2011 American Pianists Awards winner Aaron Diehl is also an eloquent and celebrated interpreter of the music of J. S. Bach. In this extraordinary program, he will showcase both sides of his extraordinary musicianship. Taking J.S. Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier as a starting point, Diehl weaves his way through Bud Powell’s bebop take on C.P.E. Bach’s Solfeggietto en route to the monumental and seldom-performed set of 24 preludes by the great Roland Hanna, who like Diehl effortlessly transcended the boundaries of jazz and classical music.
